What you should know about Shutter
Shutter
Located between the sensor and the lens, the shutter is a mechanical component built into cameras or still cameras.
Role and type of shutter
The shutter facilitates the temporary release of light from the scene passing through the lens before it is picked up by the digital device, while diversifying the exposure time and thus the moment of exposure. When not in use, the shutter is set to off mode.
There are three categories of shutters:
-the focal plane shutter;
-the central shutter ;
-the moving disc shutter exceptionally used in the context of cinematographic projection and cinematographic shooting.
Focal plane shutter
In the field of photography, a curtain or focal plane shutter is quickly distinguished among the three types of shutter. It is present globally in all types of reflex cameras with a size smaller than medium format.
Central shutter
A central shutter has a somewhat specific status in the field of photography. It is rarely incorporated in contemporary cameras because its shutter speed is very limited (1/1600th of a second maximum for the most efficient) compared to focal plane shutters.
Movable disc shutter
A paddle or moving disc shutter is a device used for scenes in digital or film cameras, positioned between the blank film and the lens. In contrast, for silver film projections, it is placed between the xenon or arc lamp and the projection window. There are also several categories of shutter: cylindrical, single-blade, truncated cone, two-blade, guillotine, etc. (1)
