A compressor is a machine used to compress a compressible fluid (e.g. air) to a desired pressure. For example, a compressor makes it possible to compress ambient air into an energy source that can be used later. It facilitates the condensation of superheated, cold and low-pressure vapours in the evaporator by compressing them to a higher pressure. There are several large families of compressors. These are : -Reciprocating compressor: this model is mainly used in household refrigerators and freezers. The latter includes hermetic, semi-hermetic and open compressors. -the screw compressor: also known as a screw compressor. -the spiro-orbital scroll compressor: their special feature is their elongated shape and the two spirals interposed like vanes to pump and compress fluids. -Rotary compressor: compresses air by means of a rotary motion.
