What you should know about Shears
The pruning
shear is a gardening tool used to perform pruning operations. It comes in the form of large, sturdy scissors equipped with a spring, a blade and a counter-blade. The blade is sharp and can be used to cut stems, small branches or twigs. The counter-blade (or jaw) is used as a support point for easier pruning. The spring pushes the blade and the counter-blade apart when the handles of the pruning shears are released.
There are two categories of pruning shears: manual pruning shears and power-assisted pruning shears.
Manual pruning shears include the traditional pruning shears with a pulling blade that can be used with one hand. The so-called ergonomic pruning shears are designed to avoid musculoskeletal disorders linked to intensive use of the tool. The power pruning shears allow you to cut large branches without using a saw. The pruning shear is a pruning shear mounted at the end of a pole and operated with a cord. Pneumatic or electric pruning shears are
power-assisted shears that operate with compressed air or battery power and allow effortless pruning. (1)
