What you should know about Intervention vehicle

The intervention vehicle is a special vehicle that serves as a means of carrying out their missions in emergencies, for the various services of public interest, assistance, and those of the forces of law and order or public security. These vehicles have the particularity of requiring the common sense of citizens in traffic. Indeed, every citizen has the duty to facilitate their passage in the streets and on the roads, so that they can carry out their intervention on time and successfully. They can also break traffic rules and traffic regulations if their mission obliges them to do so. When they are in the middle of an intervention, they use their two- or three-tone sirens and in conjunction with their flashing or blue flashing lights.

The different types of intervention vehicles are :

  • Fire brigade vehicles
  • Utilities to the gas or electricity grid ;
  • National police cars
  • Prison service cars, which are used to transport inmates
  • Ambulances or emergency vehicles of the SAMU or SMUR, transporters of blood donations or organs to be transplanted
  • Police or Gendarmerie escort vehicles
  • And finally, the banks' money couriers.
When passing all these types of cars, good citizenship leads the road user to give them priority, and in some cases, intentionally causing an inconvenience to them is punishable. (1) We talk about Construction Equipment on our blog section.
