What you should know about Thermometer
A thermometer is a medical tool used to measure the body temperature of a child or adult. It is the essential method to detect fever in an individual. Depending on the model, they offer more or less accuracy. The thermometer is adapted to the age of the person who must use it. There are different types of thermometers:
- The liquid crystal thermometer that is used on the forehead (at the forehead). This thermometer has a strip containing liquid crystals.
- The infrared thermometer which is used temporally (at the temples) or tympanically (at the eardrums). It is a thermometer equipped with an infrared probe.
- The gallium thermometer can be used axillary (underarm), buccal (mouth) or rectal (rectal). It is made of tin, gallium and indium. It replaces the mercury thermometer, which has been banned since 1999.
- The electronic thermometer that can be used buccally (in the mouth), rectally (in the rectum) or axillary (in the armpits). This thermometer has a digital display.
