What you should know about Band Saw

A band saw is a table saw used to cut wood just like any other piece of wood that has been processed. It is also used to trim boards with identical or related structures, and to scroll the material thanks to the use of narrower blades.

A machine tool adapted for woodworking

Mobile or fixed, the band saw is the ideal device in joinery for working on wood. It can be used by private individuals as well as professionals. Its cutting height allows the edging of thicker pieces of wood, making it a much more manageable tool than the table circular saw. It is more efficient in that the weight of the flywheels of the machine offers an inertia which, most of the time, supplants the power of the motor. This particularity of the band saw therefore recommends the use of cast iron flywheels instead of aluminium flywheels.

While this device is particularly suitable for splitting wood, it can also be used for cutting other materials such as metal or plastic. However, care must be taken to stabilise the unit before use and to select the appropriate blade.
