Moisture meter

Not to be confused with a hygrometer, which measures the humidity of the air, a moisture meter measures the moisture content in materials such as wood and plaster. It can indicate the condition of the walls, floor and framing of a dwelling and thus prevent mould problems due to excess humidity. Indeed, the presence of mould and fungus in a dwelling can cause significant respiratory problems and allergies. Depending on the type of moisture meter, it can be used both indoors and outdoors and can be used by everyone, not just professionals. Easy to use, just turn it on, wait for it to be calibrated and stick the metal spikes into the material and the result is then displayed almost instantly on the screen. However, non-penetrating moisture meters are also available. The moisture meter can also be useful in woodworking trades to check whether the wood is dry or wet before use. There are 2 types of moisture meter:

• Spiked moisture meter : Equipped with 2 metal spikes designed to slightly enter a material to measure its moisture content.
• Moisture meter with ball probe (or radio frequency): Without penetration, it is able to measure the moisture content of a material up to 40 mm deep.
