A sickle is a tool consisting of a handle usually made of wood or iron and a top part usually defined as a serrated or smooth steel blade curved in a semi-circle.
Much less expensive than a scythe, the sickle is held in one hand and is mainly used to harvest plants (wheat, herbs, etc.). There are different models of sickles specialized in harvesting certain plants (sickles for beets, beans, corn, etc.).
This object has seen its popularity decline due to agricultural mechanization, less used today by farmers. However, the sickle is still very useful for garden maintenance (cleaning small areas of grass or scrub).(1) We talk about Garden on our blog section.
