Jack: operation and use

A jack is a lifting device that increases human strength tenfold and is used in many trades, most of which are manual. The classic jack model consists of a crank, a lever and a base, and can be installed under a machine or heavy object. This device is most often used to change a car or vehicle wheel, and was part of the tooling of carriages and coaches as early as the 17th century.

There are different types of jacks :

-The mechanical jack, also known as a diamond, which can be considered the most widespread model, made available to motorists by garages and manufacturers.
-The hydraulic rolling jack, used in workshops, which can lift up to 5 tons. Mobile and heavy, it is activated by a pumping movement, by operating its long handle.
-The pneumatic jack, reserved for heavy vehicles, and for professional use most of the time. It can lift 30 tons in its hydropneumatic version.
-The rack and pinion jack, practical for outdoor work, including agricultural work. It is equipped with an easy-to-use crank handle, which can help you lift up to 15 tons.
