The compactometer or penetrometer is a technological device for soil analysis. It allows to know the quality of the structure which composes the pedological surface.

Depending on its use, they have the choice between a static and a dynamic compactometer. These are available as standard models, but it is also possible to use those with pneumatic wheels. A basic compactometer consists of a few main components. It has a motor or ramming ram connected to a guiding support. This motor allows the device to sink into the ground by applying a certain force at a defined height. The compaction meter also has an anvil attached to the frame. This metal part with a shock absorber activates the striking force of the ramming ram. The device also has threshing rods and a spike.
