The bike carrier allows the bike to be attached to another means of transport so that longer distances can be covered quickly. There are mainly 3 types of bike carriers depending on where they are attached.
Bicycle carrier for attachment.
This system is the easiest to use and the safest. Indeed, the bikes do not have to be lifted very high to be attached and, on some models, access to the trunk remains possible. In addition, there is no risk of the bike carrier coming loose during the ride. The bike carrier on ball allows you to carry up to four bikes. There are two types of ball carriers: suspended or on a platform.
Bike carrier on roof.
This type of bike carrier is fixed on the roof bars of the car. It is quite secure and easy to install. Nevertheless, this system has some disadvantages. The attachment of the bicycles is quite difficult because you have to lift the bicycles to put them on the roof of your car. Fortunately, there are systems to make lifting easier.

The bike carrier on the tailgate is ideal for occasional use or for people who don't have roof bars or towballs on their car. It can carry up to three bikes, but is not compatible with low-frame bikes, very small bikes or suspended mountain bikes.
