What you should know about Traffic Lane

Traffic lane

A roadway can be segmented into traffic lanes by means of road markings. In this case, the road marking takes into account: one or more white lines, either continuous or discontinuous, indicated in the middle of the roadway. This road marking divides the roadway into two or more traffic lanes.

Arrows on traffic lanes

Near intersections, arrows are sometimes painted on the pavement. These arrows indicate the direction that drivers should take. These arrows are also road markings. If there are several lanes of traffic, this blue indicator sign is often placed beside the roadway.

Speed

On an ordinary road with traffic lanes, the maximum speed is: in the Walloon Region and Brussels-Capital: 90 km/h. In the Flemish Region (since 01/01/2017): 70 km/h. (WARNING: from 1/1/2021 Brussels Region: 70 km / h and in the conurbations of the Brussels Capital Region 30 km / h). This does not always apply. Traffic signs or traffic rules may impose a different maximum speed. (1) We talk about Construction Equipment on our blog section.
